[net.works] mouse and keyword languages

darrelj@sdcrdcf.UUCP (Darrel VanBuer) (04/26/84)

A previous note seemed to think a mouse-based constructor for keyword
procedure calls would be instead of an editor. I would expect a good
implementation to be much more like the Interlisp D anarchic environment and
work as an augmentation to the editor. While in the editor ((and even
outside the editor) many of the things visible on the screen can be selected
to "simulate" typing (most used: something in any editor window, and objects
called TMenus which is a menu of things to be typed in [but the label in the
menu need not be what's typed --you could have a label 'PI' which actually
types 3.141593]).
A further component available are abbreviation lists which make it possible
to type an initial unique sequence and have it complete by typing escape
(much like command recognition in emacs).
The net result is a system in which almost all facilities are available
simultaneously rather than separately.
