Gradient Technology, Inc. announces DeskLab(tm), a new SCSI-based Workstation Peripheral for voice, acoustic and other data acquisition and playback tasks. DeskLab delivers flexible, real-time data acquisition capability to UNIX and VMS Workstations; it installs like a disk drive and requires no special software drivers. Workstation users control DeskLab data acquisition and playback directly from the UNIX/VMS command line, or from user programs which call DeskLab's C function library. In addition, complete applications can be created directly from shell scripts. An optional telephone interface with full DTMF functions, call progress monitoring and PBX support tools offers UNIX/VMS voice processing professionals a powerful applications development and prototyping environment, integrating telephone and LAN systems. Signal analysis and playback is supported by a graphics package with zoom, cut and paste (even between files), control of playback parameters, and computation of selected statistics. The package runs under the X Window system and SunView. Additional data acquisition features include filesize- or time-limited sampling, single utterance sampling, and silence removal. Optional integral floppy and hard SCSI disks enhance data acquisition flexibility and provide standalone operation. An integrated sixteen bit bidirectional TTL port interfaces with existing instrumentation. DeskLab comes with a one year parts/ninety day labor warranty and an extensive operating manual. Compute DeskLab systems are available from $5500. Delivery is 30-45 days ARO.
