            Best-Selling UNIX Desktop Publishing Package
                   Now Available from Silicon Graphics

San Rafael, California, April 12, 1991 -- Island Graphics Corporation
and Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE: SGI) today announced that Island
Write, Draw & Paint for the Silicon Graphics IRIS(R) workstation family
is now available through Silicon Graphics' Software Express channels.
Write, Draw & Paint, the first desktop publishing software to ship for
OSF/Motif, runs on the entire Silicon Graphics family of workstations,
from the low-cost Personal IRIS(TM) to the high-end IRIS POWER(TM) Series.

"Everyone -- even our most advanced 3D color workstation user --
needs to write letters, reports and create charts," said Rob Burgess,
Silicon Graphics' vice president, applications. "We see Island Write,
Draw & Paint as excellent everyday desktop publishing programs to
complement our customers' 3D applications."

"The IRIS workstation user is accustomed to a tightly-integrated
visual computing environment," said Paul Remer, Island's executive vice
president. "Write, Draw & Paint add to that integration by offering
easy-to-use Mac-like desktop publishing tools that can be used
alongside users' primary engineering applications."

Write, Draw & Paint

Write, Draw & Paint provides easy-to-use WYSIWYG word processing and
desktop publishing tools for engineers, managers and administrative
staff. It is the best-selling UNIX desktop publishing program,
according to Dataquest, and earned a 1989 UnixWorld Product of the Year
award. It also won Sun Observer's 1990 Best Word Processing Product
award. Write comes with a set of professionally-designed document
templates that provide users with pre-designed layouts. Import and
export features allow documents created in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect,
FrameMaker, and Interleaf to keep their formatting as they are imported
into Write.

Draw and Paint let users illustrate their documents with original
art, scanned images, organization charts, maps and diagrams. CGM graphics
like Lotus 1-2-3 graphs and HPGL graphics such as AutoCAD plots can be
imported into Draw, edited and annotated with text. Draw also lets
users convert clip-art from PostScript and Encapsulated PostScript
(EPS) formats and edit them. Paint supports the industry-standard TIFF
file format. It also provides conversions to and from Sun Raster,
MacPaint, GIF, Group 3 FAX, X Bitmap and X Window Dump formats. Each
program provides output to PostScript and HP LaserJet printers.

Pricing, Availability and Support

Write, Draw & Paint lists for $995, and is available from Silicon
Graphics' Software Express, at 1-800-800-4744. Software Express is a
