         MITEL ANNOUNCES THREE NEW MVIP-BASED
           COMMUNICATIONS PC BOARD PRODUCTS

Anaheim: At Voice 91 today, the Integrated Products Group within Mitel
Semiconductor announced the introduction of three new PC boards which
provide communications interfaces for voice processing, fax and a range of
other telecommunications applications. All the products are compatible with
the new Multi-Vendor Integration Protocol (MVIP) standard for the simple
interconnection of multiple cards in a single PC chassis. These products
provide System Integrators and Value Added Resellers (VARs) with standard
communications hardware which they can quickly integrate with other
technologies (ie voice processing, fax) to solve their customers needs.

The MB89110/120 Dual T1/E1 Card is an AT-compatible card containing two
T1 (1.544mb/s) or two E1 (2.048mb/s) interfaces to provide high capacity
digital/ISDN Primary Rate connections to the network for PC-based
telecommunications equipment. It has a 512 channel, Enhanced Compliant
MVIP switch matrix to provide non-blocking, circuit switching capability for
both the card as well as for the MVIP bus. This allows the MB89110/120 to
act a central switching resource, linking a number of different voice
processing, fax and communications cards. An analog voice interface is also
provided for the monitoring of traffic, or recording of messages in voice
processing applications.

The MB89210/211 S-Access Card is a low cost terminal adaptor card which
can turn an existing PC into an ISDN voice and data workstation. It contains
an I.430 compatible S-Interface device providing 2B+D transmission, in
addition to a digital telephone device, providing an analog voice interface.
Mitel's MS60X0 series of ISDN Protocol Software is also compatible with the
S-Access Card, providing a complete solution for ISDN layers 1-3. The MVIP
interface provides a simple connection to voice processing, fax and other
resource cards, allowing very capable, integrated workstations to be created.

The MB89020 MVIP Prototype Card contains an MVIP interface, a 256
channel digital switch, an analog voice interface, and a 16 square inch
prototype area. It provides developers with a standard platform which can be
used test prototype hardware in the system prior to board layout, or allow
software development to continue without production hardware. It also is
very useful in limited production run applications, where full board
development is not economical.

Mitel Semiconductor, a division of Mitel Corporation, has been developing
innovative communications components for the past 15 years. In 1987, Mitel
introduced the ISDN EXPRESSTM Development system. This family of
boards and supporting software provided hardware designers with the unique
capability of quickly evaluating Mitel Basic Rate, Primary Rate, phone and
support components, as well as the ability to rapidly prototype their system.

Many customers began utilizing the ISDN EXPRESS Card not as a
development system, but as a communications interface for their PC-based
applications. They also began asking for more products to suit a range of
communications requirements. This market demand was the driver behind
the formation of the Integrated Products Group within Mitel Semiconductor.
This group has the mandate to develop and market a range of
communications board and software products for standard computing
platforms. These new products are just the first of a range of new products
to be announced over the next few years which will provide System
Integrators and Value Added Resellers a number of standard communications
products which they can integrate into end use applications.
