Datability's VCP Servers First to Support 57.6kb Baud Rate

Datability's line of single and dual protocol LAT and TCP/IP
terminal/communications servers now supports baud rates of up
to 57.6kb, increasing port performance rate by 50 percent.

Emerging technologies, such as V.32bis/V.42bis modems, new high-speed
standard and `X' terminals and 386-based PCs running emulation
software require servers to support baud rates up to 57.6kb. Current
38.4kb servers can't run this latest generation equipment at full
throttle.

New V.32bis modems operate at 14.4kb, and V.42bis compression
technology raises modem throughput to 57.6kb. Modems connected to
38.4kb servers are unable to capitalize on the benefit of
this latest compression technology.

Higher port speeds provide network managers with a cost effective
method to connect sites without the need for high bandwidth switched
services. Remote sites can link with central sites by combining the
use of the SLIP protocol with standard V.32bis/V.42bis modems.
TCP/IP applications such as file transfer, electronic mail,
dumb terminal and screen updates for bit-mapped displays will also
benefit from the higher performance.
