PSI's dialup Internet access product, HOST-DCS, is now fully integrated with X.25 Public Data Networking Services for additional US and international access options. Reston, VA - May 21, 1991 - John T. Eldredge, Director of Sales and Marketing, Performance Systems International, Inc. (PSI) today announced the accessibility of HOST-DCS (Host Dialup Connection Service) through X.25 public data network (PDN) services available in most countries world-wide. Since many companies already have X.25 PDN services installed at their sites, offering HOST-DCS in conjunction with X.25 network services is a logical next step in PSI's already wide service spectrum. Eldredge added, "Leased line facilities for overseas operations are very expensive. This new capability will allow simple PSINet and Internet access while working smoothly with existing X.25 investments or location requirements." HOST-DCS through X.25 is available provided that the TCP/IP over X.25 implementation for the host computer is in compliance with RFC-877. RFC-877 documents the standard for the encapsulation of TCP/IP packets in an X.25 virtual circuit. This service is applicable to international sites with PTT-supplied X.25 connections, as well as the installed X.25 base in the US. It is applicable to everything from Sparcstations running Sun Microsystems' Sunlink X.25 to Xenix/SCO/386 workstation and minicomputers.
