                 Computing, Organizations, Policy and Society
Department of Information and Computer Science
                       University of California - Irvine

POSITION: Tenure track faculty position in the Department of Information
and Computer Science, University of California, Irvine.
                 Level:Assistant Professor. Start: Fall, 1991.

AREA: Computing, Organizations, Policy and Society. This area
encompasses research and teaching from the perspective of the
social sciences (including sociology, economics, political
science and public or private management) as they relate to
                 computer and information sciences.

DUTIES: Teaching, research and administrative responsibilities in the
area consistent with a tenure-tack faculty appointment at a
                 major research university.

QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Computer Science, the Social Sciences, or Management,
with demonstrated research experience and interests in the
area of Computing, Organizations, Policy and Society. The
applicant should be able to teach some undergraduate courses
within other areas of computer science. However, it is not
expected that the applicant would teach upper division or
graduate courses in areas unrelated to the Computing,
                 Organizations, Policy and Society.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Computing, Organizations, Policy and Society is an
area of specialization in the department and on the campus
with several active faculty and strong research. The ICS
Department maintains close working relations with other
academic units of the UCI campus, including the Graduate
School of Management, the School of Social Sciences, the
Program in Social Ecology, and the Department of
Psychobiology. Multi-disciplinary research in this area is
administered through a campus research institute, the Public
Policy Research Organization. These relations provide an
excellent opportunity for the conduct of multi-disciplinary
                 research.
