I request your cooperation in diffusing in the Computers and Society list 
and a answering the survey below which is part of a larger project seeking 
to assess the relevance and possibilities of using public domain software 
in developing countries.

2a- What type of equipment do you use the public domain SW on?

3-What led you to adopt public domain software? Cost? Simplicity of use?

4-What is the criterion of choice?

5-How do you identify the public domain software needed?

6-What channels do you use to obtain it?

7-How effective has been the public domain sw for the performance of the
tasks you have assigned it?

7a-Are these tasks central to your computer functions or peripheral?  For
example, do you use public domain sw as complemetary tools to write sw or as a
primary database?

8-How is the maintenance of the sw made?

9-What are the main problems, in yout view, related to the use and diffusion
of public domain sw?  Any problems specific to your country?

10-Do you think that public domain software is effective or not in your
