Background: There appear to be a lot of surveys and polls of various types in many of the different newsgroups and a significant number of people followup on these messages rather than mail. Another problem is that if a poll takes place in net.flame or another newsgroup that I don't read because the content usually doesn't apply to me, I never see it. I and I suspect others, like to respond to polls and surveys so that their opinions are counted. Such a medium might also help to increase turnout for some of the polls that are taken. There might be people who are only interested in the results of a poll, and this group would be help. Possible problem: Articles would still probably be posted to the group that is most relevent. I don't see how this can be avoided. Major problem: It's not best practice to start a new newsgroup just because there would be a fair amount of traffic, there are other considerations too. -- Howard D. Your first problem is not a problem. Polls SHOULD be posted to the relevant group. If you're not interested in that group, why would you be interested in a poll for that group? net.polls is not needed.
