[net.music] Seeking concert hosts

lenoil@mit-eddie.MIT.EDU (Robert Scott Lenoil) (03/08/86)

I am a member of the MIT Logarhythms, a men's a capella singing group
comprised of MIT undergraduate students. Our repertoire is based upon
barbershop, but also includes madrigals, spirituals and modern. Aside
from our usual concert activities (hosting other groups, traveling to
other schools), we usually plan a week-long tour during our spring
break. The duration allows us to travel further than we normally would
during the school term. Last year, we sang our way up to Canada (hello
to our Canadian friends). This year, we will be touring the west coast.

The success of our tour, depends in large part upon our itinerary.
Therefore, we are eager to hear from organizations that might wish to
have us perform for them sometime in the period March 22-29. A similar
posting to this one last year led to a 2-day stay at the University of
Toronto, which was indisputably the best activity of last year's tour.
(Just a short testimonial to USENET's usefulness.) We're hoping to do
it again this year.

Our program is quite flexible, but usually includes a mixture of songs,
stories and jokes to keep our audience laughing and entertained. In the
past, we've performed at colleges, high schools, restaurants, retirement
homes, et al. After our performance at a high school, we'd be more than
happy to hold a short discussion about life at MIT, for the benefit of
prospective students. We've also had a very good time performing for
high school music classes, after which the chorus would often get up and
sing for us.

Our itinerary will be taking us to Seattle, and then down to Portland,
San Francisco, and Los Angeles. We strive to perform free of charge,
although donations, especially of room and board, are greatly
appreciated. If you are interested in having the Logarhythms (or Logs,
for short) perform for you during March 22-29 (or other dates), respond
to me (Robert Lenoil) via netmail ( {ihnp4,decvax!genrad}!mit-eddie!lenoil ),
