A while back I asked whether anyone knew of speed benchmarks for
Fortran on the Symbolics workstation.
I received one letter from someone who had used Fortran 77 on the
Symbolics. He had not run any formal benchmarks but offered his
impressions, which were:
compile time 5 times slower than a single-user Vax 780,
cpu-intensive execution 30% slower.
I don't know how either system was configured.
