Does anyone know of any books that have been published describing the Intel Object Module Format? Does Intel publish this sort of information itself? For those who don't know, the OMF describes a relocatable object language for the iAPX-86 family of processors. Compilers such as C or Pascal generate this object language as input for linkers and librarians. I am particularly interested in the object module format produced by Microsoft C. Thanks, Greg

Intel documents their object format in "8086 Relocatable Object Module Formats," document 121748, available for $15 plus shipping from Intel. In the US and Canada call 800-548-4725, other countries call your local Intel office. Having said that, be aware that Microsoft has added all sorts of incompatible extensions to the OMF, so if you want to create or decode Microsoft object files, you'll have to get documentation from Microsoft. -- John R.
