[comp.protocols.misc] Fakerscope 3000 vs. Network Probe 6630

cl@datlog.co.uk (Charles Lambert) (09/21/88)

I am considering buying either a Fakerscope 3000 or a Network Probe 6630 to
diagnose communication problems. The system under test uses an in-house
packet protocol carried by RS232 and RS422 links. We need to capture and
inspect packets, ideally up to 256 characters long, and occasionally to
synthesise such packets so that we can emulate a communicating unit.

Has anyone used either or both of these instruments? Can you give me a
comparative assessment?

Send e-mail to cl@datlog.co.uk or {backbone site}!ukc!datlog!cl and I will
post a summary.
