Does anyone have a simple mathematical model for communication line noise, like on dialup telephone connections? Experience says that it's usually bursty, meaning that there are probably two variables: the mean burst length and the mean distance between bursts. But maybe there's a way of squeezing this kind of behavior from a single variable (the bit error rate). Thanks! - Frank
