[comp.protocols.misc] What is the status of NETBLT?

rww@esl.ESL.COM (Rich Webb) (02/03/90)

Hello,
I am involved in a high-speed networking project. I have
implemented a simplified version of NETBLT (RFC 998), and I
have been using it for the past year. Now I am interested in
finding out if anyone else out there has worked on it. I am
also looking to contact the authors: David D. Clark, Mark L. Lambert,
and Lixia Zhang. There were at MIT in 1987.

With our custom networking hardware, two Sun-3s can converse at
2.5 Mbyte/sec with 1K packets. The primary bottleneck here is the
VMEbus. We are looking to extend this protocol to our new hardware
that sits directly on a 80 Mbyte/sec network.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
