I had someone ask me about a "5250" protocol the other day and I have been unable to find any reference to it. Any pointers to where I might find out something about it would be greatly appreciated. A brief description would be great too. ********************************************************************** David L. Miller Internet: millerd@prime.tricity.wsu.edu (?) A brief description would be great too. 5250 is an IBM terminal / controller system. It is similar to the much more common 3270 series (but the underlying protocol is different). For one thing, a 5250 terminal is usually connected to it's controller via a twinax cable, whereas 3270 uses coax. I think that 5250 is real common on IBM's midrange systems. If you want to find info on it, consult the IBM KWIC (Key Work In Context) reference for a list of 5250 manuals. -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- David G. A brief description would be great too. It's the terminal protocol for IBM System/3X minicomputers, in the same way that 3270 is the terminal protocol for mainframes. I believe the AS/400 supports both, though.

As you're a VM'er, I suggest you ask your local IBM rep for the number of a manual which will describe the protocol in detail.
