[comp.protocols.misc] FFP-L -- File Formats and Protocols Discussion

david@WUBIOS.WUSTL.EDU (David J. Camp) (11/13/90)

This is an announcement to an alternative to the PROTOCOLS
mailing list. I am not sure there should be two separate
lists, but when I read the description of the PROTOCOLS
list in the INTEREST-GROUPS file, it sounds like the
intent is more narrow than for FFP-L.

Anyway, here is the announcement. If the PROTOCOLS people
want to open the PROTOCOLS list to this wider range of
discussions, then I would propose that the lists be merged.

Please send me your opinions on this matter, or post them
to the PROTOCOLS list. -David-

FFP-L@UIUCVMD File Formats and Protocols Discussion

The FFP-L electronic mailing list is a forum for the discussion of
file formats and protocols. This includes the file formats used by
various archiving programs, the encodings used to transfer data
via electronic mail and other text-only media, and other networking
protocols such as DECNET, UUCP, TCP/IP and OSI.

We welcome free-ranging discussion and product announcements.

The subscription is as for a normal BITNET LISTSERV list. Send
a message to LISTSERV@UIUCVMD.BITNET (LISTSERV AT UIUCVMD) or
listserv@vmd.cso.uiuc.edu with the contents:

The list is unmoderated. The list coordinators are:

    Phil Howard <phil@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu>
and
