Real-Time LAN Solution Integrating Multiple Vendors

To address the needs of users wanting a real-time network incorporating
multiple computer vendors, an Ohio-based company introduced SCRAMNet (TM).

SCRAMNet (Shared Common Random Access Memory Network) is a high speed,
real-time shared memory local area network. SCRAMNet is not a token-passing
ring like other commercial products. More precisely, it is a register-insertion
ring where each node places the network data into an out-going FIFO. Each
node consists of a host interface, network interface circuitries, and shared
memory (8K min - 2M max). This memory is replicated memory, where every node
on the ring has the same contents. This memory is viewed by the host CPU as
"just memory".

Major Features:
 - 150 Megabyte/second data rate
 - Fiber Optic Link
 - Data Filtering (avoids unnecessary traffic)
 - Programmable Byte Swapper
 - No Software Overhead
 - Multiple Bus Interfaces (VME,QBus,UNIBus,NuBus,Multibus,Selbus etc.)
 - Per-location Interrupt Passing
 - Automatic Error Recovery
 - 200 - 600 nsec Node Latency
 - 700m Max Node Separation
 - Gateway Node to interconnect to other low-speed message passing networks
    such as Ethernet and FDDI

This is just an introduction article. Interested then drop me a line.
