Is there a public domain (or inexpensive) protocol available which provides a serial line connection which is error free? I need something like SLIP (which I assume is error-free), but without everything it does and all of the overhead and software support necessary. I just want my 2400 baud modem to communicate (in real time, not for file transfers) with a unix machine and not to get line noise. Support would have to be strictly in software (running on my machine and the Unix machine).
