CAP distribution 4.00 is now available. The major differences in this distribution are: o support for AppleTalk Filing Protocol (version 1.1) o asp fixed and debugged o atp cleaned up o byte alignment management for different machines is a little cleaner o pap preserves pascal strings for status strings o some imagewriter programs o new version of LaserWriter spooler o include renamed to netat o atis fixed to be case insensitive on lookups This distribution should be of most interest to: those who have had problems with byte alignment problems in previous CAP distributions, those who have AppleShare 1.0 and wish to run a AppleTalk Filing Protocol Unix File Server, and those who required some ImageWriter services. As usual, this distribution has not been extensively tested except on vaxes. Distribution from Columbia is via ANONYMOUS ftp to CU20B.COLUMBIA.EDU (128.59.32.128) ONLY. More information is in the files RELEASE and MODIFICATIONS in the directory US:[US.CCK.CAP.D4]. Please get and read the RELEASE file before transferring any other files since the distribution is stored in four different formats that require from 350kilobytes to 900kilobytes. MODIFICATIONS and RELEASE are available in the info-mac directory at sumex.stanford.edu as at-cap4.mods and at-cap4.rel respectively. The shar, e.g. plain text, format is available there as at-cap4.shar (warning - this file is nearly 900kilobytes in size). Thanks should go to Bill Croft for getting things into the info-mac directory. Charlie C.
