1) The documentation with the Kinetics FastPath version 2 says that
one of the changes is that memory can be expanded to something like
80K. However the model 1 also has PC board space on the memory
daughterboard for 8 6264's (or an additional 64K). Is there any reason
why you can't just solder some 6264's into a version 1 (and maybe a
74F138 in the right spot) and expand its memory to 96K?

2) We are about to be getting a LOT of FastPath's. I've heard talk off
and on about putting an ethernet bootstrap ROM in the extra socket.
Has anyone implimented this? I'd much rather burn an EPROM
with the address info configured in for each one then have to worry
about training users to reload the things.

As to part 2). We've been waiting for the new ROMs for quite sometime now so,
no, we've not implimented it. I, too, want to burn information into an EPROM
as we're going to be sticking these things into a wiring closet where they'll
be difficult to reboot. We also intend to put TFTP on the EPROM to allow it
to boot across the Ethernet, as our routers already do.
