I ran into some very similar problems on my machines. As far as I can tell, it is the KBox that is losing the AT routing information (ie, it thinks IP number x is AT node Y instead of Z). I have yet to find a real solution to the problem, but I have put in a kluge that arps for the IP numbers every 5 minutes or so and makes sure everyone is happy, this way whenever someones mac dies like that, I can just tell them to wait a few minutes and try again. P.S. If you put a patch like that in and don't tell anyone, people really wonder about things. For example, some people will call to report a problem but, by the time you arrive to look at it, everything works......it really puts people off. (this works especially well if you are the author of the telnet program in question). Gaige B. Paulsen National Center for Supercomputing Applications gaige@ncsa.uiuc.edu
