[comp.protocols.appletalk] Simple case for AUFS,CAP,and Suns

cpd@CS.UCLA.EDU (Charles Dolan) (02/04/88)

When I asked for help on configuration files (which did help me get
the system up) someone asked for copies of the files when I got done.
The mailer keeps bouncing the message, so I am trying to get it through
on the list. Sorry for any inconvenience. Also anyone who want to
corrent any misconceptions I have (and have expressed here) please feel
free.

--- message follows (I hope 'rbw' gets it) ---

Funny you should ask. I just got it working last night. Here are my
configuration files. We have a class C internet (we only get to change the
last number) with Suns and Symbolics. From what I can see these are the
crucial elements,

The network number of the KBox as listed in the 'atalk.local' file is different
from the one listed in the 'atalkatab' file. The one in the 'atalk.local'
file is for the ethernet side of the network and the one listed in the
'atalkatab' file is the one for the appletalk side. One of the fields in
the 'atalkatab' file lists both addresses. The other thing which seem to be
crucial is to not have any address in the field of the prompt congig file for
the "real gateway" unless you have one!

Good Luck
