I have managed to rebuild the KIP gateway code from sources on a Sun 3/280, and it seems to be working fine. I now would like to modify it to handle subnets to gain access to the many machines on our campus that are a subnet gateway away from the FastPath box. Does anybody have suggestions/help/ patches-they-have-made to do this? I have made a number of attempts myself, but I can't seem to even change the behavior of the code... I've gone to the extreme of deleting whole chunks of code that I thought would be critical for the functionality of the box (deleting the bulk of the routeip, ieoutput, and even main functions), and it still runs normally(!), not recognising subnets. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Brad Smith System Administrator Baskin Center, UC Santa Cruz ARPA: brad@saturn.ucsc.edu UUCP: ...!ucbvax!ucscc!saturn!brad

This has nothing to do with KIP code. Sorry, but I do not know how to post without replying. My question: Here at UCI, the med center is looking into buying a network that will allow Macs to talk to IBMs. It is important for us to be able to transfer data from MACs to IBMs in such a way that the IBMs can use the data as easily as the MACs (this also goes for IBM to MAC transfers). For example, if a graduate student (who invariably use MACs) writes an article that he wants a secretary (who invariably use IBMs) to edit using WORDPERFECT (the student used WORD 4.0) he should be able to make the transfer easily and painlessly. If anyone has doe this type of transfer please leave me mail.
