We have recently received some > literature from Sun on the Sun-3 and it states that the clock rate > is 15 MHz? Why is everyone saying 16.67? The Sun-3 architecture does not specify a clock speed. The Sun-3/75, 160, and 180 run at 16.67 MHz. The Sun-3/50 and /52 run at 15 MHz. The /50 is the cheap machine and people felt that the price reduction was worth the performance loss. Given that a /50 is $7900 while a similar /75 runs $15900 I think they were right. -- # I resisted cluttering my mail with signatures for years, but the mail relay # situation has gotten to where people can't reach me without it.
