much talk has focused on the AT portion of telnet. we're having a little difficulty with the mac interface and i'd like to hear from people who may have experienced the same. we've got numerous mac II's, SE's and Pluses using telnet, connected via K-Box to a Sun. everything works fine until you connect on the Mac II's which have 4 Meg. Frequent 'Bus Error' crashes occur in random places, especially when using other programs like LightSpeed C, and Design/2.0. However these are just the most frequently used products i use, and i have heard of crashes which don't involve them. one of our users recently upgraded from 2 Meg to 4 Meg on his mac II and started experiencing these crashes. the solution is to reboot after running telnet, and this works in every case, though it's annoying. anyone have these problems, or insights? PLEASE SEND REPLIES VIA E-MAIL. i'll post a summary if i get interesting responses. thanks. -alan { alan%metasoft@bbn.com, bbn!metasoft!alan }

I'm not sure how this relates to your problem but it is a repeatable one. We have a Mac II w/1Mbyte of memory. After installing NCSA Telnet 2.1e our copy of MacDraft developed problems. When you open a new window the window name is the box's IP address (e.g. "192.5.220.5") vs. the ususal "untitled". Additionally, the text option (used to add text to a drawing) will eventually hang the system. The mouse is still alive but nothing is selectable and keystrokes have no effect. Occasionally, even the standard reset switch on the back of the box is unable to reset the machine. Mike
