[comp.protocols.appletalk] Help needed with CAP printing

evan@ndcheg.UUCP (05/21/88)

We've been running KIP/CAP for more than 6 months now in anticipation
that it will ultimately our primary fileserver. Today, I picked
up the 1/88 version of KIP and downloaded it into our fastpath
box. We were running 9/87 KIP.

The result was that the Sun lost the laserwriter access. It can't
find the printer anymore.

I checked CAP's look and looks utilities and they now list the
appletalk and laserwriters on the Ethernet side of the K-box.
Previously, they always listed the devices on the appletalk
side.

The macs can still access the aufs servers.

I've RTFM'd the documentation to death. Anyone out there
have some helpful pointers?

Thanks in advance.

Just after I posted the last plea for help, I tried renaming
both sides of the fastpath box to the same zone. Lo
and behold, the Sun could now print to the laserwriters on
appletalk.

But it looks like the lwsrv daemon is non-funtional. Tha mac
complains that it can't find the proper laserwriter. This is
not a very serious problem for us; most of the Mac users print
directly to the laserwriter without the spooler.

But it would be nice to fix this as well :) :)

Thanks again for your attention.
