We have a small AppleTalk network (10 machines, Macs and PCs) that share a
LaserWriter via Tops; the PCs are using TEX (from TEXset). We will be getting
3 Suns (a 4/110 and two 3/50s) on July 1st and plan to connect them via
ethernet.
The question is how to extend this network so that the Macs, PCs and Suns
can print to the LaserWriter. I guess that we'll need a Kinetics FastPath box
to bridge the 2 networks. Can anyone who has a similar situation please reply
to me directly - I'll summarize to the group.
Is the LaserWriter on AppleTalk or connected directly to one of the Suns?
What are you using to spool from each machine?
Does Kinetics supply the required software (KIP)?
Are you running CAP instead?
Does FastPath give access to the Suns as terminals from the PCs or Macs on
AppleTalk using terminal emulation software or do I need something like Tops
Terminal?
