We have installed the kip0688 and cap5.0 stuff for our appletalk-network. Everything seems to work perfectly. However we have a problem with the laserspooler for an AppleTalk LaserWriter. We have running "atis" and "lwsrv" for spooling jobs for the LaserWriter. It results on the mac's in an icon under the Chooser eg. "laserspooler". It is possible to send a mac-document to the spooler, which appears in the spooler-queue on the Unix-host. So far no problem. The job is sent to the LaserWriter (no plus), which is apparently executing the job, as indicated by the leds. However nothing is coming out and until probably a timeout the laserwriter status information tells: "Preparing data". I have used an appledict version 65 retreived from a mac as described under the cap4.0 installation documention. I edited the LaserPrep in order to remove the hex-code for stretch and smooth. Anyway probably there is something wrong with the LaserPrep. Does anyone has a suggestion what can be wrong? For example must the LaserPrep file end with an %%EOF. Ronald Boontje recently posted a problem using lwsrv. He says that nothing comes out on the LaserWriter, even though the leds flash and the status information says "preparing data". He also claims to have retrieved an appledict version 65 from a mac. I had a similar problem when I first brought up lwsrv from Cap4.0. In my case, the comments at the top of the appledict file claimed that it was version 65, but nothing worked. Further down in the file I noticed a line like %%BeginProcSet: "(AppleDict md)" 66 I guessed that this meant that I really had appledict version 66, re-started lwsrv specifying -a66 option with this file, and everything worked great! I suggest that Mr. Boontje examine his appledict file carefully to verify which version it really is.
