When NCSA Telnet 2.1 starts up, it remaps the keyboard somewhat, so that
the Option key behaves like a Control key (for the benefit of those who
have pre-ADB keyboards without a Control key). It undoes the mapping
when it exits.
Unfortunately, NCSA Telnet doesn't seem to temporarily undo the mapping
when it is major-juggled into the background by MultiFinder. Thus, if
you launch NCSA Telnet, you lose the ability to enter Option-modified
characters (accents, option-8 for a bullet, etc.) in other applications;
you must quit from NCSA Telnet to get your option-key back.
[Curiously enough, if you open Key Caps and press the Option key down,
the Key Caps display highlights the Option key correctly... but the
characters displayed in the virtual keyboard behave as though you had
pressed Control.]
Is there a newer version of NCSA Telnet that's polite enough to undo its
keyboard-rebinding when it's told it's being suspended?
