Has anyone outhere recently installed/configured a Fastpath Gateway to an ethernet? If so could you please let me know any secrets that I may have missed during my two days of head-banging. The furthest I have gotten is the installation of appletalk and Fastpath on the Macintosh as well as installing the Sun version. Things aren't working however; I cannnot view a published Unix volume. Tops complains that the server cannot be found. It appears as though I have screwed up the Fastpath installation? One other note is that my Sun server is now coming up with the diagnostic: Warning ie0 being requeued. Any ideas anybody??? Please??? -- =============================================================================== | Mike Harris, Atex Inc., A Kodak Company 1-617-276-7392 | | 32 Wiggins Ave., Bedford, MA | ===============================================================================

I'm no appletalk expert, but I have recently installed the same configuration (TOPS and a Kinetics Fastpath). Some suggestions: 1. Make sure that the Tops server on the Sun is configured in the same Appletalk zone as your Mac clients, or is configured in a zone which your clients have access to, maybe via another Fastpath. 2. Make sure your Fastpath is up and running correctly. Since Tops seems to be fairly robust, given a correctly configured network, the problem is most likely in the Fastpath. Bring up Fastpath Manager and carefully scrutinize the information on the Gateway window. Make sure the appletalk zone name is correct (on BOTH sides of the gateway), check for correct Internet address in the Gateway name, and check the appletalk net number. Have you tried using the "atinfo", "atservers", or "topspeek" diagnostics provided with TOPS/Sun ? These provide some good network debugging info, at least from the ethernet side. E-mail me if your still stuck, and I'll try to help... -- Craig S.
