[comp.protocols.appletalk] What are the Mac and PC TELNET/FTP programs?

K4TDS@SCFVM.BITNET ("Thomas D. Schardt") (09/30/88)

We recently installed IBM's TCP/IP product and are currently
testing it. In anticipation of user questions, I would like
to put together a list of TELNET and FTP programs that are
available for the Apple Macintosh and the IBM PC, PS/2, and
PC clone microcomputers. Currently, I know about the following
applications for the Macintosh: Brown TN3270 and NCSA TELNET.
For the PC's, I've seen FTP Software's group of programs and
NCSA TELNET. Can anyone point out any other programs? Where
can I get them or get information about them?

If an interest is expressed, I'll put my list to this list.
Thanks,

Tom Schardt

TCP/Connect is a new package from Intercon Corporation
11732 Bowman Green Dr., Reston, VA 22090, 703-435-8170.
I called them about two weeks ago and they promised to send information.
Nothing has arrived yet, but if I remember the conversation correctly,
they were about to go into
Beta testing with the version for a Mac on LocalTalk. They also have
versions for Mac using EtherTalk, and one for MS-DOS machines on a
LocalTalk network. To my knowledge this is the only announced or available
implementation for PC on LocalTalk, which is of great interest to us.
TOPS has announced TOPS Terminal for January 88, but they missed the date
and are going into Beta only now. Maybe it will be released before the end
of the year, but there won't be a PC version soon.
Please post the list of packages that you hear about.
