HI, y'all, Quick question for the net. My local Apple dealer tells me that the _only_ _reliable_ way to put MS-DOS machines on an appletalk net is to use the Localtalk PC cards. At $200 a pop. Somehow, I have problems believing this sort of absolutism, really feeling that these guys are more salesman than anything else. I'd like to solicit some feedback from those who've linked their PCs into an appletalking environment. Basically, our first use of the link will be to print on the laserwriters, followed at some interval, by some sort of file sharing system. We're not real sure just how to do that yet, but we're not ready to make a decision now, so it really doesn't matter all that much. We do need to move on the interface cards, however. I'd appreciate a synopsis of your experiences. What kind of card do you use? What kind of software comes with it? What problems have you had? How is tech support? Are you satisfied? And of course, how much did it cost? Plus whatever else you feel is appropriate. Please email to me, and if there's sufficient demand, I'll post summaries. tom c "What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?"
