1) APPLESHARE UNDER VMS
Has anyone ported the Columbia Software to VMS? If not, are there
any other packages that will support Appleshare from a VMS machine?
2) MAC FILE SERVERS DOUBLING AS APPLETALK-SLIP GATEWAYS
We have one 'island' appletalk network. Ideally, I would like to run
a 9600 baud or higher serial line between two mac file servers, one on
the island link, and the other mac file server hooked up hooked up to
the ethernet via a Kinetics Box. Has anyone had experience in setting
up a Mac as both an Appleshare file server *and* an Appletalk/Slip gateway?
3) NCSA TELNET AND KA9Q COMPATABILITY QUESTION
I have been experimenting with NCSA Telnet 2.2 and a 1987 version of
KA9Q for the Mac. They don't seem to be compatable over Appletalk --
I suspect that they are using different Appletalk protocol numbers.
The KA9Q uses 0x7e I think. What protocol number does NCSA Telnet
use? (Note: I'd rather use just NCSA Telnet, it doesn't seem to
be able to gateway to SLIP like KA9Q can.)
4) WHERE IS KA9Q and STANFORD IP NOW?
Where can I get a copy of the most recent KA9Q and/or the Stanford
Mac package? I haven't heard too much said about Mac KA9Q, so perhaps
it has been superceded by the Stanford stuff.
5) HOW ARE THEY ALL RELATED?
Has anyone drawn a family tree for PC implementations of TCP-IP?
I think for the IBM PC it looks something like:
KA9Q
/ ?
MIT PC-IP ---- CMU PC-IP ---- NCSA
\
FTP software
Where does the MAC stuff come from?
Thanks,
Scott
