[comp.protocols.appletalk] BYU Telnet v2.2.3 available

loganj@byuvax.bitnet (01/13/89)

BYU Telnet v2.2.3. is available for anonymous ftp from the zaphod
system at NCSA, ip number 128.174.20.50.

The following improvements have been made:

1. The "color" item under the "session" menu is now working properly.

2. The ftp local "help" command is working properly.

3. FTP prompting is working much better, it now echos keystrokes for
   all prompts except password.

4. The ftp put (or send) command now accepts two arguments properly.

5. If your config.tel file specifies "commandkeys = yes" the
"session" menu wasn't displayed or working properly, but it is now.

6. The correct version number (2.2.3) is now displayed in the "About"
   dialog.

Known problems:

1. Sometimes the ftp document cursor "flashes" several times, then
remains displayed even though an ftp transaction is not active.
This is an annoyance, but not fatal - we are looking into the
problem, it is not a problem with the original NCSA Telnet v2.2.

2. Sometimes the connection to some systems drops for no apparent
reason. We are working on the problem.

3. It does not work properly with the "NCSA Settings" file that is
   created by the original v2.2.

Again, thanks to Tim and others at NCSA for making this available.

Regards,
jim
