[comp.protocols.appletalk] NCSA Telnet 401x problems

jmg@cernvax.UUCP (jmg) (02/10/89)

We have a dozen or more FastPaths, and use both NCSA Telnet and Brown's
TN3270. We now have pressure to offer graphics support!

We have been trying to use 4014 mode (connecting to our VM system via an
IBM 7171 which knows how to go into transparent mode). Output is generally
OK, though sometimes the picture drawing stops in the middle, restarting if
we hit the return key), and the problems of being in the right mode on the
right screen are something we can probably work out. However, we are unable
to get graphic input (what I believe is called Gin or Locator mode). We expect
to see the tektronix crosshair cursor on the screen, move it with the cursor
keys (mouse?) and hit return (click the mouse?) to indicate positions.
Nogo.
Anyone got it working?

BTW, what would be really nice would be 4107 emulation!
