The Microcomputer Development Products engineering group at Tektronix is seeking a systems programmer to help support a UNIX development environment, presently consisting of a PDP-11/70 and two VAX-11/780's, with more VAXen to come. Duties include modifying and testing the operating system, doing consulting for users, and installing/enhancing application programs and utilities. There is extensive work left to be done in networking all machines and peripherals. The successful applicant will have a BSCS or similar degree or comparable work experience and will be familiar with the UNIX operating system and the C programming language. Knowledge of system internals, especially those of the 2.8 and 4.1 Berkeley distributions, is a plus. Tektronix is the largest private employer in Oregon and offers a liberal profit-sharing plan, excellent medical and dental programs, and a friendly, open environment which pays no allegiance to the clock. Several local institutions of higher learning offer opportunities for advanced studies, often at company expense. The recreational opportunities of the Pacific Northwest are without parallel, and include beaches, excellent winter *and summer* snow skiing, miles of hiking trails, and extensive fresh- and salt-water sports.
