I ran across what *might* be a misconfiguration of a FastPath using Kinetic's Subnetting scheme. I am using shift 5, mask 11 which gives me something just over 30 internet addresses in each appletalk subnet. Normally I have been giving the ethertalk internet address something outside the range of numbers of the subnet I was setting up. But E's looking much like F at times, I used one of internet addresses in the range of the subnet. ( What I thought I did) #128.1.190.74 granny #appletalk gateway ( What I did ) # G.N. 05 0B 8001BF40 8001BF4A ^----------Should have been an E. # 5 11 128.1.191.64 128.1.191.74 (ie. 128.1.190.74) # Apple Talk Zone: granny # Net# : 1530 # Ethernet Zone : navel # Net# : 1521 # Valid I/P @ : 128.1.191.64-95 # 128.1.191.64 gateway from localtalk side. # 128.1.191.65 mac1 # 128.1.191.66 mac2 ( got cha ) # 128.1.191.74 oops can't use this one for a mac. Can anyone see any reason not to do this. It seems to me that it would simplify my records of used @'s if the FP on both sides and the mac @'s were all in one place. Setting this up on purpose I would use 128.1.191.65 for the gateway from ethertalk side; 128.1.191.66 would be the first mac. Edward A. Bunch UUCP: {uunet, amdahl, sun}!fai!edb Fujitsu America, Inc.
