[comp.protocols.appletalk] Papif question - daemon dying

hurf@batcomputer.tn.cornell.edu (Hurf Sheldon) (04/01/89)

I am running papif to a LaserWriterIINT and the lpd daemon
is dying after every job. Sometimes it will spool correctly
until say an out of paper error. After that the daemon must
be restarted for every job. This on an Ultrix2.0/uVaxII system.

Suggestions on what might be the problem appreciated. I have
not found anything, so far, in the docs for lpd or cap as
a whole to lead to a probable cause. Restarting lpd from the
init stage does not correct the problem either. lpd should
start printing and empty the queued jobs on startup but not
in this case. Our other printer, a laserwriter Plus on a serial
line is not having this problem at all.
