Would someone like to volunteer to help a naiive user to set up KIP/CAP? Here is an outline of the problem; there may be something really obvious which I've missed. If not, could you point me at someone I can give the full details to? I have KIP0688 running on a KFPS-3 bridging a LocalTalk Mac network, and an ethernet of SUN-IIIs (SUNOS 4.0.1) and EtherTalk MACS. The Localtalk printers are showing up in the finders, NCSA Telnet works, and atalkalog shows that the configuration has taken place... but that's all. I have set up CAP (from distribution 5) on one of the SUNs (131.227.4.1) which is also the KIP admin host. Atlook, for example, shows no activity. The Kip documents suggest that atalkatab is not supplying the proper routing. Here's my entry... is there some obvious mistake? 55.4 H 131.227.4.220 MATHS #maths, appletalk-in-IP 57.4 E 131.227.4.220 MATHS #maths, ethertalk 56.1 KC 131.227.4.220 MATHS #maths, localtalk I131.227.4.0 I131.227.4.1 #ipbroad ipname I131.227.4.1 I131.227.4.1 #ipdebug ipfile L0 L0 L0 L0 S57.4 S200 #ipother atnetet ddprangestart L0 S8 S2 #flags ipstatic ipdynamic S56.1 S55.4 "MATHS" # atneta atnete zone Here's atalk.local on the same host: # mynet mynode myzone 55.4 1 MATHS # bridgenet bridgenode bridgeIP 55.4 220 131.227.4.220 Replacing the "H" line with 131.227.4.1 and running atalkrd doesn't seem to have any effect. Footnote: atalkad -c tells me that "zone names take 0 bytes in gateway" (because of a missing argument to the logging function call). Are there some fixes to atalkrd which I've failed to pick up? mark@cs.surrey.ac.uk Mark Ellis, Computing Officer, Department of Mathematics University of Surrey, Guildford GU2 5XH, Surrey, England +483 571281 x2626
