Subject: Exabyte 8mm tape drive

Stephen,
I saw your note about the Exabyte 8mm tape drive. I have one in my Artecon
Removeable Disk Subsystem (RSU). I have a SUN 3/260 with a SCSI3 card running
Sun OS 3.5.1. We tried to use a SCSI 2 card and were told that it would not
work properly. Something to do with releasing the SCSI bus, during file
transfer. I am able to use tar and mt commands on the drive. It's setup
as st1. The 1/4" is st0 and I have a cable running from the 1/4" out the back
to the RSU.
Have you been able to use dump and restore? The little bit of docs I have
suggest s=6000 and d=54000 which doesn't work. I've tried the following:
/etc/dump 0usdbf 6000 54000 100 /dev/rst1
/etc/dump 0usdf 6000 54000 /dev/rst1
Also variations with nrst1 st1.
Do you use dump and what s,d,b values do you use?
thanks,
