We have a large network with several ethernets and several appletalk networks. The ethernets are connected together via gateway (unix) boxes. The appletalk networks are connected via either a Gatorbox or a Fastpath. Here is a simplified sketch of the topology: ------------------------------------------------- AT'net1 FP1 | ======================================================== E'net1 | | UGW1 | | ======================================================== E'net2 | | UGW2 | | ======================================================== E'net3 | GB1 ------------------------------------------------- AT'net2 We have static routings for the appletalk sub-nets set up on UGW1 (Unix gateway 1) and UGW2. NCSA telnet will work from either appletalk network. The problem is that Macs on AT'net1 can not see the zones or the printers on AT'net2 (and vice-versa). I believe that the problem is that UGW1 and UGW2 (quite properly) don't forward the broadcast packets that the chooser depends upon. Perhaps the simplest solution to this problem would be to write programs for UGW1 and UGW2 that performs the appletalk broadcast routing. I am looking for such a program. Please send me any information on the existence of such a program - or the code! Bruce Beare Pyramid Technology
