I have a question regarding the Farallon products Timbuktu 2.0 and Timbuktu Remote. I am upgrading a Mac network and would like to be able to monitor the network server from my office, which is across campus from the lab. The Mac network, consisting of Mac IIcx's, a Mac II, and a Mac Se/30 will be connected to the campus lan by a Kinetics FastPath4 gateway. My office is connected to the campus lan in a similar manner. My questions are: 1) Does a copy of Timbuktu need to be running on each Mac in the lab so that I can check on network traffic and Mac use? 2) Can Timbuktu Remote access a network across the two FastPath gateways and provide accurate information? 3) Do I need a copy of Timbuktu Remote running on the Appleshare server? BTW, the server will be a DOS server running Novell Netware 2.15 which uses AppleShare to mount the server disk as a Mac hard disk. Basically, what I want to be able to do is to monitor the network without marching across campus to do it (we all know we have better things to do than make tracks between networks to monitor them). Any help would be appreciated. Please e-mail me your help ... I read my mail more frequently than news.
