We are trying to get the new version of CAP/KIP to run on a FastPath 4 with 4.1 ROMs. The Unix box is a Sun running Sun OS 4.0. The code seems to compile properly, but when we load up the FastPath, zones disappear, the k-box disappears from the FastPath manager, none of the TCP/IP products work (NCSA, MacIP), and our local LaserWriter vanishes. Has anyone got this combination running? If so, then I've made a stupid mistake in my atalkatab file . . . . Any clues would be greatly appreciated. - /mde/

Yes, people are running KIP on the KFPS-4, and it does work. I am not sure which ROM revisions we are running it on (the KFPS-4s belong to other departments here). Other than the fastpath manager not being able to talk to the kbox, we haven't had any problems. You do need to use the OLD fastpath manager to load it - not the new version that comes with K* and the KFPS-4. I would suggect that you try setting up a KFPS-2/3 if you have access to one and set up the config file and atalkatab correctly so that it works, then simply replace the kbox with the KFPS-4, change the serial number in the config file and bring it up in place of the KFPS-2/3. As long as you can get the KFPS-2/3 configured correctly, you should not have any problems with the KFPS-4. Rakesh Patel.
