[comp.protocols.appletalk] Multiple subnets with KIP/CAP

paulm@psueea.UUCP (Paul Mauvais) (06/18/89)

We are currently running the KIP/CAP software (kip0688/cap5.0 w/all the patches
from the internet) on our gateway. Let me explain the equipment setup then
the problem:

We have a class B address with 3 subnets currently. We use manually
route'd routes. (no routed)

KIP/CAP software is running on a VAX 11/750 with MORE/BSD. This machine
acts as a gateway between our 131.252.10.0 and 131.252.20.0 networks.
The FastPath IV (rev3.1) sits on the 131.252.10.0 side. Atalkad and atis run
here.

There is also a SUN 3/280 file server running SunOS 3.5 which is a gateway
between 131.252.20.0 and 131.252.21.0 networks.

The configuration files are as follows:

###/etc/atalk.local
#mynet mynode myzone
55.10 11 PCAT
#bridgenet bridgenode bridgeIP
55.10 204 131.252.10.204

###/etc/atalkatab
55.10	N1	131.252.10.0	PCAT		#ee-lan, appletalk-in-IP
55.20	N1	131.252.20.0	PCAT		#cs-lan, appletalk-in-IP
55.21	N1	131.252.21.0	PCAT		#suncs-lan, appletalk-in-IP

# this group shows a kbox and the IP ether it sits on.
56.1	KC	131.252.10.204	PCAT		#godzilla, localtalk
	I131.252.255.255	I131.252.20.75		#ipbroad ipname
	I131.252.10.11	L0			#ipdebug ipfile
	L0 L0 L0 L0	S0 S200			#ipother atnetet ddprangestart
	LX0		S0	S50		#flags ipstatic ipdynamic
	S56.1	S55.10				#atneta atnete

XXX.config file:
<junk deleted>
* IP address of myself, 'ipaddr'
* 131.252.10.204
83FC0ACC
* IP addr of admin host
* 131.252.10.11
83FC0A0B
* IP addr of default route (nearest 'real' gateway)
* empty
00000000

Other things:
named is running on a VAX 11/780 at 131.252.20.75 (MORE/BSD).
I have the upgraded ROMs for the FastPath 4 but have been wary about
installing them because of all then problems other sites around me have
been having when they do install them. Comments?

Problem:

MacIP can see hosts on the 131.252.10.0 network and login to them just fine.
It cannot see or get to anything on the 131.252.20 or 131.252.21 nets.

Anything obvious jump out?

I'd really appreciate any help. Please respond by email if possible.
