Here is a little snip from the June 1989 issue of LAN Times, Novell's extended advertisement (and more): LOW-END AFP MAC-TO-DOS NETWORK DEBUTS CALABASAS, CA -- Information Presentation Technologies (IPT) Inc. has introduced Personal Server Network, a fully AppleTalk Filing Protocal- (AFP-) compatible peer-to-peer networking solution that uses the AppleShare user interface. Personal Server Network allos any Macintosh or MS-DOS client to appear as an AppleShare server to other users on a network. Individual users make their files available by publishing their folders to specific users, groups, or the entire network. According to Sally Rosenthal, director of marketing and communications for IPT, Personal Server Network also allows "small networks to operate without a server, and to migrate to larger networks without a server, without changing their software." IPT also announced uShare, APF server software that allows Macs and PCs to connect to the Unix environment. Personal Server Network for Macintosh-to-Macintosh and Unix-to-Macintosh communications is currently available for US$149 per client. Macintosh-to-PC and Unix-to-PC communications will be available in June.
