I am re-posting this because I received no reply and prefer to assume that the original article got lost rather than assume that no one can help me with this. Lots of people recommended CAP to me so surely *someone* out there has used papif and can help me try to solve this problem: I am having trouble getting papif working. Papif is a program bundled with CAP that sends postsrcipt files from unix machines to laser printers on the localtalk. I have installed CAP successfully and can see the laser printer with the atlook and atlooklws programs. When I run papif (interactively for testing purposes, not using the lp spooler) it successfully opens up a connection to the laser printer and begins sending data (the light flashes on the laserwriter to indicate this). But it never prints anything and after about 5 minutes I get the following errors: %%[ Error: timeout; OffendingCommand: timeout ]%% %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% papif: handleread: PAPRead error -3109 papif: Finished job at Tue Jul 18 09:54:39 1989 I have upped the waittimeout value in the eerom on the laserwriter to 300 seconds as suggested. I have recompiled papif for 'throttled' output and that didn't help. I always initialize the printer by first sending a mac postscript document. The printer is a LaserWriter IINT and we are using LaserPrep 5.2. Does anyone know what my problem might be? Thanks.
