[comp.protocols.appletalk] Another question about atalkatab, K-star,

barnett@crdgw1.crd.ge.com (Bruce Barnett) (08/01/89)

We have a single ethernet backbone with several Kinetics (FastPath 3)
gateways. (Used by TOPS)

I am bringing up our first K-star/FastPath 4 subnet and ran into some problems.
TOPS works, telnet 2.2 and 2.3 work (With K-STAR loaded into the FP4).

I tried to configure our atalkatab file and check it with the -c option.
Here is my configuration file
-------------------------------
128.165 E 3.1.5.84 KW-ETHER # ethertalk on backbone
78.220 K 3.1.56.1 TESTZONE # Kinetics box on appletalk end
        I3.1.4.0 #ipbroad
        I3.1.4.31 #ipname
        I3.1.4.107 #ipdebug
        I3.1.4.107 #ipfile
        L0 L0 L0 L0 #ipother
        %n #atnetet # line 8
        S200 #ddprangestart
        LX0 #flags
        S10 #ipstatic
        S10 #ipdynamic
	%n #atneta
	%n #atnete # line 14

The first two appletalk net numbers were optained from the
printout of the Fastpath Manager II Version 5.0 program.
The Fastpath has the two IP addresses 3.1.5.84 and 3.1.56.?
(Should it be 3.1.57.84 - i.e. the same host number as the 3.1.4.0 network)
Anyhow, the output of atalkad -c is:
samples% /etc/atalkad -c
7/31 16:12 (re)reading /etc/atalkatab
7/31 16:12 unable to match appletalk net (81), line 8 [[[ #atnetet]]]

7/31 16:12 %N not set, line 8

7/31 16:12 unable to match appletalk net (40), line 14	[[[ #atnete]]]

7/31 16:12 %N not set, line 14

7/31 16:12 art build: 2 entries, 64 maximum
7/31 16:12 zone names take 4241680 bytes in gateway
Route 128.165 KW-ETHER, EtherTalk at testbridge
Route 78.220 TESTZONE, Kinetics box at 3.1.56.1
IP Broadcast: 3.1.4.0, IP name: hercules
IP debug kreskin, IP file server (unused)
UDP Port range for WKS starts at 200
IP static address range: 3.1.56.2 3.1.56.11
IP dynamic address range: 3.1.56.12 3.1.56.21
        Kbox interfaces:
                localtalk: 78.220 zone TESTZONE
                KIP: 0.0 zone unknown

My questions are:
Where does appletalk nets 81 and 40 come from?
Since ipfile is the same machine as ipdebug, why does it say the
IP file server (i.e. kreskin) is unused?
