The discussion of traffic to Europe reminds of my sys file. It contains the cryptic entries "na" and "ug", just because ihnp4's sys file contained them. Was "na" supposed to mean "North America"? A future version of the news software could have a default distribution for each newsgroup that might not be the same as the newsgroup itself. Then users would have to override the distribution for articles of world-wide interest. The default distribution for "net.tv" might be "na" (since Canada suffers from most of the same tv as the USA) while "net.bugs" might go to "world", or simply "net.bugs". If the default distribution line were supplied by inews for articles which had no distribution then there might be very little spill-over beyond the area of potential interest. It is about midnight now so this may be a crock, of course. But it is an idea. ___________________________________________________ Matt ARPA: crawford@anl-mcs.arpa Crawford UUCP: ihnp4!oddjob!matt
