We're thinking of doing this, and I have one critical question: if
we run aufs on a Sun, can the Sun access files stored by the
Macintosh? Say, f'rinstance, could I store a PICT file on the Sun
using aufs, and then read it into Interleaf (assuming Interleaf can
read PICT files, which I get to find out tomorrow....). Or do we
have to get a....

and store the Mac files using NFS?

Thanks.

Work flows toward the competent until they are submerged.

Yes, it does, with one caveat: if the Macintosh file has a resource
fork, it is stored in a separate file using Apple Double format. So
far, the only program I know about that understands this is Interleaf,
allowing the Mac version and Sun version to share files.

The Cayman Gator box is a nifty product. They are diverging soon into
two products - one which competes directly with Kinetics FastPath 4
and does no translation and an add-on which does the translation
(effectively splitting their product into two parts).
